Time to sit down with our Osteopath Ebony

Where did you grow up and what did you enjoy so much about it that it made you come back after uni?

I grew up at Coral Bank, just out of Mt Beauty on my parents farm. I am the oldest of 4 kids and my family are my favourite people in the world. I spent a few years living in Melbourne and then a few more years living in Kingscliff in northern NSW. Although I loved the beach and the warm weather, the North East has always felt like home to me. The community, the mountains, and my family are what drew me back.

The classic – what got you into Osteopathy?

I always had an interest in going into health care which I think came from my mum being a nurse and a midwife. I still didn’t know exactly what this was going to be when I finished school and ended up going to study science in Melbourne. It wasn’t until I went and saw an Osteo myself that I decided that’s what I wanted to do. I just loved the holistic approach and I had tried lots of other things to help but that was what made the biggest difference for me.

Have you had any serious injuries?

I have been extremely lucky with my injuries, the most persistent thing for me is low back pain that started as a teenager when I was playing loads and loads of sport. A couple of other niggles here and there but very lucky.

What rehab did you do and what are you doing now to prevent them from happening again?

It took me a while to find my groove with my rehab for my back but I found that finding something that you really enjoy doing makes such a difference. Pilates is my favourite at the moment for its combination of strength, mobility and the social aspect haha

What have you enjoyed about your time thus far at Sports & Spinal Albury Wodonga Corowa?

Everyone else who works here is the best part of this job. Everyone is so supportive, kind and helpful, it really feels like a big work family!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I enjoy loads of different things, and I love trying new hobbies. I love reading, hiking, boardgames, travelling, and camping, and I love doing all of these things with my partner and family. I am getting married next year so at the moment lots of my spare time is going towards DIYs and planning for that.

What is your favourite sport and sporting team?

This is a very tricky question because I love lots of sports. Soccer has been one of my favourites for most of my life, it’s something that I have played on and off pretty much my entire life. Therefore the Matildas are probably my favourite team. I have never been good at picking favourites of anything and I always change my mind so I would probably have a different answer next week.

Is there anything else we should know about you?

I am obsessed with my border collie Ollie. I think he’s the cutest dog in the world and I love spending as much time as I can with him.
