Meet Local Osteopath Dr Meave Bohanna

Meave Bohanna

Meave graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Osteopathy from Victoria University in mid-2023.

Originally from the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Meave recently made the exciting decision to relocate, drawn by the lifestyle and sense of community of the Albury/Wodonga area. Growing up in a sporty family, Meave immersed herself in various sports, including competitive swimming, netball, and basketball. In recent years, her focus has shifted to Australian Rules Football (AFL), a passion she continues to pursue with her team back in Melbourne, traveling down each weekend for matches.

Meave’s journey into osteopathy was sparked by her own experiences as an athlete, seeking relief from injuries throughout her sporting career. Inspired by the holistic approach of osteopathic treatment, Meave is passionate about helping others achieve their short-term and long-term health goals. She believes in empowering her patients through hands-on therapy, education, tailored exercises, and encouragement to play an active role in their treatment and management.

What is your guilty pleasure? Definitely an afternoon nap on the weekend. However, I never really feel guilty after it…

Name three people you would love to have dinner with and why?

  • Libby Trickett or Leisel Jones: I was a swimmer growing up and witnessing women excel in their field is inspiring, and understanding either of their journeys would be incredible.
  • Also, as a huge Carlton fan, Kade Simpson stands out as one of my all-time favourite players. His consistency, leadership, humility, and work ethic got us through some tough times as supporters.
  • Emma Watson: I was and still am obsessed with the Harry Potter books and films. So childhood me would be over the moon to meet her. I even drew a picture of her when I was in high school.

What is your favourite place in the world?
I’ve been fortunate to travel extensively, but Ireland would probably be my favourite. It’s where my dad and the rest of my family are from, and it feels like a second home to me.

Are you a book or a movie person? And what is your favourite one?
Choosing between movies and books is tough—I love both! Recently, I thoroughly enjoyed “All the Light We Cannot See” and as for movies, “The Grand Budapest Hotel” holds a special place in my heart.

Who is the best team in the world, apart from our Sports & Spinal Albury crew?
Coming from a footy-loving household, I am a massive Carlton fan. However, I also have to give a shoutout to the Gold Coast Suns in the AFLW, as my sister plays for them, and I wouldn’t hear the end of it if I didn’t mention them!

What would people be surprised to know about you?
I am a pretty open book but I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie—I’ve been skydiving and have a whole bucket list of adventures I plan to tackle.
